How This Class Works:
All Skill Levels Welcome
This class is perfect for beginner or intermediate painters. One-on-one instruction will be given to each student and will be adjusted to fit each student's skill level.
Work at Your Own Pace
Because you will be working from your own photo, you will be able to work at your own pace rather than the pace of a group.
Paint what You Want
You get to paint what you want. Please bring at least 2 photos to discuss before choosing your subject. (Landscapes photos only- no portraits or photos with people) Photos must be printed, please do not plan to work from a photo on your phone or tablet. Photo printed on photo paper is highly recommended. Photos printed from a computer printer loose much of the value and color needed to create a good painting.
Choose Class Dates that Work for You
Attend the class whenever it fits your schedule. Because you will be working on your own individual painting at your own pace, you are welcome to join class dates that works for you. You don't need to attend every week, you can skip weeks when you are busy. However, due to limited space, a reservation is needed.
Limited Class Size
Each class is limited to 10 students so that each student can get plenty of one-on-one attention.
Reservations and Cancellations
Due to limited class size, a reservation is needed to hold your seat. A 2 day advance notice of cancellation is required. Last minute cancellations or no-shows will be charged for the class session.
Image Copyrights
Please only bring a photograph that you or someone you know took. Please do not bring a photograph of another artist’s work to copy in class.

Need Supplies?
Your first class includes the use of all supplies. After that you will need to provide your own. A supply list will be provided in your first class.

Paint Your Own Landscape Photo- Oil Painting Class

Class Supplies
This is an oil painting class. Traditional Oils or Water-Soluble Oils are welcome. Aprons and easels are always available to use.
Water-soluble oil paints, traditional oil paints, mediums, and brushes are available to try out during the first class session only. These are provided during the first class to help each student decide which medium they want to work in and which supplies they like before buying.
After your first class, please bring your own painting materials.
Canvas size recommendations are any size canvas up to 20" on either side. Smaller sizes such as an 8"x10" are recommended for beginner painters. Please call to discuss if you prefer to work on a larger piece.
Based on your preference of traditional oils or water-soluble oils, a list of recommended materials will be provided in your first class.

Please bring your own canvas and the photo you would like to paint. It is recommend that you bring 2 photos to discuss before choosing.
Parking
You will need to park in one of the ALL DAY public parking lots or park on a nearby street that is not limited to 2 hours only. Parking on Avenida Del Mar is limited to 2 hours only so you will not be able to park there or you will be ticketed. Please refer to the parking map below for parking locations.
How many classes are needed to complete a painting?
It is expected that it will take between 3-6 sessions to complete a painting. Because everyone works at their own pace and is working from their own photo there is no exact answer. The difficulty of the painting as well as the pace of the student can vary greatly.
